The Water Changemaker Innovation Awards 2023 is proud to announce the top 30 finalists selected from a pool of exceptionally innovative and impactful projects dedicated to addressing water-related challenges worldwide. The finalists have been announced during a hybrid event held on the sidelines of the ongoing United Nations General Assembly in New York on Friday, 22 September 2023.
As a long-standing co-sponsor of the Integrated Drought Management Programme (IDMP), the Global Water Partnership (GWP) is proud to have played a central role in organising the Drought Resilience +10 Conference. This conference, marking the 11th anniversary of the launch of IDMP by GWP and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), served as a critical milestone in the global conversation on drought and water scarcity. It highlighted the pressing need for unprecedented collaboration to address the escalating threat of drought and water scarcity worldwide.
The development of a USD 10.8 billion Botswana Water Investment Programme is currently under way following H.E. Mokgweetsi Masisi’s commitment at the United Nations 2023 Water Conference in New York to place the provision of water and sanitation services as well as the attendant infrastructure at the forefront of the national development agenda.
Tanzania has launched response strategies that will support the country in resolving the country’s three major barriers to water resources management. Launched during the 2024 National Multi-Stakeholder Forum (NMSF) on 11th and 12th February, the strategies were developed under the Global Water Leadership Programme (GWL) which the Global Water Partnership Tanzania was implementing in collaboration with the Government of Tanzania. The GWL programme, a global initiative to support emerging leadership for improved water, sanitation and hygiene services, and climate resilience, is being implemented in various countries including Tanzania.
December 11-16, 2023, with support from the GWP SEA and GWP China, the GWP Cambodia and Partners and Stakeholders were provided opportunities to explore the IWRM implementation in Yunnan Province and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in China.
The 6th African Young Water Professionals Forum by GWP-Med, the International Commission for Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) and partners organised under the platform of the 6th Cairo Water Week highlighted the urgent need to integrate a gender lens into all initiatives on water, climate and development, for sustainable investments.
In commemoration of World Water Day 2024 and to support the 10th World Water Forum, GWP Indonesia is holding a series of activities through the 5th Indonesian Water Forum. The series of activity started by multi-stakeholders’ consultation in collaboration with Ministry of Public Work of Indonesia and The Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas.
