Chad is the first African country to join the Water Convention in 2018. Aware that a large part of its water resources is shared, its accession to this convention will enable the country to better manage the resource in a concerted manner which adequately meets the growing needs of the population in a context where water security is increasingly threatened by climate change.
Over 70 representatives from fifteen African Union Member States gathered in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from the 13 - 14 February 2025 for a training on AU Guidelines for the development of National Climate Resilient Water Investment Programmes. The training was part of the build-up to the 2025 AU-AIP Water Investment Summit which South Africa will host in the context of the G20 Presidency, and the 2026 UN Water Conference to be co-hosted by the United Arab Emirates and Senegal.
Phnom Penh, Cambodia | 19 June 2025 —With climate pressures rising and prolonged dry seasons becoming the new norm, Cambodia has officially launched two groundbreaking national strategies to tackle its most pressing water challenges.

The event focuses on demonstrating practical approaches to drive cooperation and partnership at all levels in order to help to achieve internationally agreed water-related goals and targets, including those contained in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
A multi-partner workshop held on May 3rd to 4th in Bangui in view of completing output 3 of the GCF Readiness project in the Central African Republic, which is the development and submission to the GCF of two project concept notes integrating gender and social inclusion with a focus on water-related themes.
The 6th African Young Water Professionals Forum by GWP-Med, the International Commission for Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) and partners organised under the platform of the 6th Cairo Water Week highlighted the urgent need to integrate a gender lens into all initiatives on water, climate and development, for sustainable investments.
14 August 2023, Global Water Partnership Southeast Asia and Safe Water Gardens were invited to learn about Coca Cola Euro Pacific’s sustainability initiative, “This is Forward on Water” for their Water Replenishment Program.
