Registration for Media Accreditation to Cover the Upcoming African Union - AIP Water Investment Summit

The Government of the Republic of South Africa, in partnership with the African Union - Continental Africa Water Investment Programme (AU-AIP) invites members of the media wishing to cover the forthcoming African Union-AIP Water Investment Summit to apply for accreditation. The Summit is scheduled to take place from 13 to 15 August 2025 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTIC) in Cape Town, Western Cape.

Unveiling the Regional Strategy on Drought Risk Management and Mitigation for South Asia locally

Following the launch of Regional Strategy on Drought Risk Management and Mitigation for South Asia at the 16th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 16) to the UNCCD which was held on 10 December 2024, the countries of GWP SAS conducted mini-launches and key stakeholder consultations locally. The key stakeholder consultations around the strategy facilitated identifying the national level priorities that should be developed into action plans by keeping the regional strategy as the guide.

Given the transboundary nature of drought, effective mitigation efforts demand collaborative actions across nations.

Roadmap towards reversing Biodiversity Loss in the Pungwe River Basin Ecosystems -a lifeline for People, Wildlife, and the Economy

The Pungwe River basin, shared by Zimbabwe and Mozambique, is rich in plant and animal diversity. However, the ecosystem is now under threat from human activities. In 2023, Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA) commissioned an Environmental Flow (EFlows) assessment to understand how the Pungwe River Basin and its ecosystems work, the findings of which will help in managing the river and protecting its natural environment.

GWP China at the 10th World Water Forum

The largest international gathering of water stakeholders, held every three years, the 10th World Water Forum - 'Water for Shared Prosperity' - was held in Bali, Indonesia, from 18 – 25 May, as the culmination of a multi-annual political, thematic and regional preparatory process. It attracted 64,000 participants and visitors from 160 countries.

Water Accounting Roadmap (WARM) III Workshop

To increase the country's capacity to take practical steps to address and manage water scarcity under the pressure of rapid population growth and in a changing climate, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, and Ministry of Public Works and Housing held the Water Accounting Roadmap (WARM) third workshop.
