The Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA) participated in the 8th International River and Environment Cooperation (REMCO) Conference, held in Maputo, Mozambique, from 3 to 7 November 2025. Convening more than 150 delegates from Mozambique, Eswatini, South Africa, the Netherlands, and Germany, the conference served as a critical platform for advancing collaborative strategies to strengthen transboundary water governance and climate resilience across the Incomati and Maputo River Basins.

Community (SADC), in collaboration with the Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho and with the support of the German Government through the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), will host the 11th SADC Multi-Stakeholder Water Dialogue in Maseru, Lesotho, from 29 to 30 September 2025.
Lomé, November 11, 2025 – The Regional Initiative for Water and Environment in the Transboundary Mono River Basin (RIWE-Mono) project has reached a decisive milestone with the official launch of the Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis (TDA) and Strategic Action Programme (SAP) process.
The 11th SADC Multi-Stakeholder Water Dialogue was held in Maseru, Lesotho, from 29 to 30 September 2025, where delegates discussed the role of water in regional economic corridor development, positioning and aligning the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus for impactful contribution to the regional economic development corridor agenda.
From October 20 to 23, 2025, Guinea’s National Designated Authority (NDA), with technical support from GWP Africa, organized a capacity-building workshop focused on strategic engagement with the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the development of resilient and bankable project proposals.
From November 4 to 6, 2025, Bamako hosted a pivotal regional workshop under the REWaRD project- “Reversing Ecosystem and Water Resources Degradation Trends in the Volta Basin.” Implemented by the Volta Basin Authority (VBA) and the Global Water Partnership – West Africa (GWP-WA), with support from UNEP, IUCN, and the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the project aims to strengthen ecological resilience and participatory governance across six West African countries.
Small holder farmers and pastoralists in Djibouti are increasingly exposed to climate risks, with recurrent droughts that continue to threaten food security and livelihoods. To help address this challenge, especially in the IGAD region, the DRESSEA project, funded by the Adaptation Fund through the Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS) and implemented regionally by Global Water Partnership Eastern Africa (GWPEA), is supporting: Djibouti, Kenya, Sudan, and Uganda to produce regular, impact based drought bulletins.
Against the backdrop of South Africa’s G20 Presidency, the first hosted by an African nation, 2,000 delegates will convene in Cape Town from 13-15 August 2025 for the inaugural AU-AIP Water Investment Summit, a strategic platform to drive water-related investments and reforms. Over 80 transformative water projects from across the continent will be showcased to potential funders & investors, through which possible deals will be signed.
On 17 December 204 Global Water Partnership Southeast Asia (GWP-SEA) held its 6th webinar series of Innovative Solutions for Water Secure and Sustainable Development webinar series, focusing on remediation of The Tukad Rangda River and the surrounding areas in The City of Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia with 85 attendees online.
