GWP China Shaanxi was set up in June, 2004, for promoting IWRM for the sustainable use of water resources and sustainable development of society and economy.

Government leaders attached great importance to the recommendations of the 4th Wei River Forum, held in October 2010 and organised by GWP China-Shaanxi together with Shaanxi Principal Water Resources Department.

In May, GWP Cambodia launched a report on river basin management in Asia together with the Asia Development Bank (ADB) and the Cambodia National Mekong Committee, outlining results from a 4-year programme, including an investment roadmap for water and related development. The report, which will serve as a case study for the application of IWRM in Cambodia, is available in Khmer or English and can be ordered on the GWP Cambodia website.

Toward water security and climate resilience

On the fourth MyCWP Partners’ meeting on 7th May 2012 at the Corus Hotel, Kuala
Lumpur, Malaysia, MyCWP re-introduced to the partners to what the GWP is, the
technical papers that are available and the GWP’s influence globally.

Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) sought to assess the effectiveness of its training manual on Water Use Efficiency (WUE) in the Tourism Industry and Hotel Sector by hosting a WUE workshop in Antigua on November 29^th - 30^th, 2011. To assist in carrying out the WUE workshop in the Tourism sector, GWP-C contracted the Environment Tourism Consulting Limited (ETC).

Each year, the Global Water Partnership (GWP) holds its Consulting Partners (CP) Meeting, where it brings together all its Regional Water Partnerships (RWPs) and partners from more than 160 countries. The Meeting offers a consultative approach in which Partners recommend actions to be taken that are fundamental to the operation of the GWP network.

The Network Specialist acts as the liaison between the Global Water Partnership (GWP) Secretariat in Stockholm, Sweden and each GWP region for which they are responsible. The Network Specialist therefore provides support in the implementation of the GWP Strategy at the regional and country level.

GWP participated in the “COP 11 of the RAMSAR Convention”, the 11th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Wetlands entitled “Wetlands: Home and Destination” on 5-10 July in the Parliament Palace in Bucharest.

GWP will receive £9 million in funding from the UK's Department for International Development, through to 2015. The UK’s Water Security Programme was announced at the climate change negotiations in Doha at COP 18 by the UK Secretary of State, Edward Davey, on Tuesday, December 4, 2012.
