Meet GWP-C's Network Specialist

The Network Specialist acts as the liaison between the Global Water Partnership (GWP) Secretariat in Stockholm, Sweden and each GWP region for which they are responsible. The Network Specialist therefore provides support in the implementation of the GWP Strategy at the regional and country level.

A Capacity Building Workshop on "Integrated Management of Shared Lakes Basins", was organised in Ohrid FYR Macedonia, 16-18 July 2008 by the Global Water Partnership-Mediterranean (GWP-Med) and the Mediterranean Information Office for Environment, Culture and Sustainable Development (MIO/ECSDE) in cooperation with the GEF/UNDP "Integrated Ecosystem Management in the Prespa Lakes Basin of Albania, FYR-Macedonia and Greece" project and the FYR Macedonian Ministry for Environment and Physical Planning.

Gambia and Sierra Leone next on the agenda

West Africa now has 12 Country Water Partnerships (CWP). All  ECOWAS countries have one except The Gambia, Liberia and Sierra Leone. In 2009 contacts were established with these countries and strong demand had been expressed to assist in the implementation of the CWP in each country.

Sierra Leone ready to launch CWP

The water stakeholders in Sierra Leone agree to establish a National Water Partnership (CWP) at a meeting held December 23, 2011 in Freetown. The consultative meeting was convened to validate the feasibility study for the creation of a CWP in the country.

Building capacity among water users in Rajasthan

The new State Water Policy of Rajasthan, the largest state in India by area, puts the emphasis on two components: an integrated water resources management approach and the efficient working of Water User Groups (WUG). During 2010, GWP India with the support of its Northern Zone Water Partner, organized two workshops for the capacity building of NGOs involved in the implementation of the new policy.

GWP participates at Bonn climate change talks

The Global Water Partnership is participating in the UNFCCC Climate Change talks in Bonn as a follow-up to its participation in COP 15, continuing its advocacy for placing water management at the heart of the climate change adaptation agenda.

Water and Climate Coalition Launched during the Climate Talks in Bonn

A number of well known international organisations and research centers join forces to highlight the role of water in the context of climate change. The newly formed alliance, named the Water and Climate Coalition, is officially launched today at a side event at the climate talks in Bonn.
