Danube Art Master 2012: Czech Republic wins the competition

Bratislava, 8 October 2012. Czech children have won the "International Danube Art Master 2012" competition, as the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR) and GWP Central and Eastern Europe announced today.

Water and Urbanisation

Today water stress is a major concern in many urban areas. The core aspect of urbanisation is the rapid urban population growth together with inadequate planning, pollution, poverty, competing demands on the resource, all contribute to water stress: and consequently the urban water consumption is likely to double by 2025. Climate change is expected to cause significant changes as well in precipitation patterns which will affect the availability of water and induce water related disasters.

First India Water Week Focuses on Water-Energy-Food Nexus

Under the theme, “Water, Energy and Food Security: Call for Solutions”, more than 1,000 water professionals from India and abroad participated in the first India Water Week in April, in New Delhi. In an indication of the role of water as of critical importance to economic prosperity, the week was inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh.
