Linking Climate Information Providers with Users

Further steps towards implementing a Global Framework for Climate Services (GFCS) were taken on 26-28 September 2011 in Rome at a meeting co-organised by FAO and WMO. The aim of the meeting was to develop a strategy for the agriculture and food security and water sectors of the User Interface Platform which is intended to link climate service providers and users with a view to “building the capacity of users to make better use of climate services, collecting users’ requirements, assisting in the monitoring and evaluation of the Framework and promoting a global understanding of the Framework”.

Page names and short-cuts

Google, and other search engines use URLs, allong with the page title and the words you use on a page to determine what the content is about. People use URLs to rememebr where a page was, but they need them simply written, so we make sure that URLs are readable, relevant and if they are too long we can also set up a short-cut.

Redirecting old pages to new

When moving a site from it's old domain ex. www.mysite.com to gwp.org/mysite it is vital that old pages land on the new website in a sensible way.

A launch will take a long time. Be prepared to wait and double check everything. Many things cannot be undone!
