Name: Global Water Partnership (GWP) Founded: 1996 Vision: A water secure world Mission: To advance governance and management of water resources for sustainable and equitable development.

As a global action network, GWP reaches out to a wide range of stakeholders in order to bring about changes to the way water resources are managed. Ideally, institutions join GWP as a Partner in order to enjoy the full range of benefits. It is possible that some institutions are not able to join. Nevertheless, GWP still wants to work in close partnership with as many institutions as possible that share our vision for a water secure world. To that end, we have Strategic Allies. We work with some of them informally, with others we have a formal Memoradum of Understanding (MoU documents are listed in the right-hand column). Below, a list of GWP's global Strategic Allies.

For solving the problem of water supply for the water saving ecological campus, GWP China Shaanxi, jointly with Shaanxi Provincial Department of Water Resources, Shaanxi Provincial Department of Education and Shaanxi Ecological Campus Innovation Programme Office, organized the Conference on Water-Saving Ecological Campus Construction on June 13th, 2010 in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province.

On behalf of GWP China, Ms. Ma Yilin, Programme Officer of GWP China Secretariat, participated in the training course of the Post-quake Rural Water Supply Facilities Evaluation and Capacity Building Project which was organized by Shaanxi Project Management Office (PMO) on June 11, 2010.

GWP is a global action network. Its chief focus is to support social change processes that further the sustainable management and development of water resources. To do this, the network invites like-minded organisations to join this global movement.

At a GWP press briefing on 8 June 2010 at the UNFCCC climate change negotiations in Bonn, Germany, GWP Executive Secretary Dr. Ania Grobicki called for water, climate and development to be integrated into the UNFCCC's work on adaptation.
