The Ghana Country Water Partnership organised 30th Steering Committee meeting on 18^th May, 2016 at the conference room of the Water Resources Commission. The main purpose of the meeting was to start discussions on the preparation towards WACDEP 2. In all, there were 7 members present at the meeting representing Ghana Irrigation Development Agency (GIDA), Water Resources Commission (WRC), Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA), ProNet and Volta River Authority (VRA). The meeting was chaired by Mr. Ben Ampomah.

A training workshop was organized in Tunis, in the framework of the Water, Climate, Development Program for Africa (WACDEP), on 20-23 October; the second one out of a series of five training workshops composing the capacity building program “The Economics of Adaptation, Water Security and Climate Resilient Development”. This series of workshops follows the Framework cycle developed under WACDEP for water security and climate resilience.

Guinea has developed since some years its IWRM roadmap and with it appears the necessity to build the capacities of the actors. As part of the capacity-building of the state and non-state actors involved in the IWRM process, an awareness, information, exchange and experience-sharing workshop was organized on 12th and 13th January 2017 in Conakry. Fifty participants took part in the meeting. The official ceremony was chaired by Mr. Ismaël DIA, Water Adviser of the Minister of Hydraulics and Energy.

GWP's Executive Secretary, Dr. Ania Grobicki spoke during the official opening of the 6th “WACDEP Technical Coordination Workshop” held from the 15th -19th September 2014 at Meikles Hotel, Harare, Zimbabwe. The workshop was hosted by the Zimbabwe Country Water Partnership (ZCWP), under the patronage of Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate, Zimbabwe.

Today, in celebration of the International Francophonie Day, the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Secretary-General of the Organisation international de la Francophonie (OIF), encourages francophone youth to get engaged and learn about a series of youth consultations on water and climate change that OIF has launched in preparation for the 21^st Session of the Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP21).

The members of the Steering Committee of the Partnership for Environmental Governance in West Africa - PAGE met in Ouagadougou for the third session of the Committee on 8 February 2017. The meeting was meant to assess the progress made and make a prospective analysis of the program.

The sixth statutory meeting of the Assembly of Partners of Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA) was held on 7 and 8 May 2015 in Cotonou, Benin. The theme of the meeting was " The challenge of the post-2015 Development Agenda in Africa: what role for Partnerships in the context of Climate Change?'. Organized by the GWP Regional Secretariat in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy, petroleum exploration, mining, water and renewable energy, and the Country Water Partnership of Benin, it was under the patronage of the Minister.

The fifth National Training Workshop related to the implementation of the WACDEP Capacity Development Programme on the “Economics of Adaptation Water Security and Climate Resilience Development” was held in Maputo-Mozambique on the 09^th - 10^th April 2015, at the National Director of Water Affairs (DNA) premises. The opening was done by the Deputy National Director for Water, Mr. Hélio Banze.

With active participation through a wide range of events, GWP advocated for a higher profile of water in the global climate change policy process in Lima, Peru, and promoted the need for a dedicated Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) for water.

After the Municipal / Communal and Local elections which took place in Benin leading to the renewal of decision-making bodies at municipal level, the CWP Benin has initiated a training session on the advocacy techniques for local water stakeholders. The participants included members of the National Association of Users of the national portion of the Niger Basin (UNA-Benin, the Consultation Framework of non-state actors in the water sector and sanitation (Canea), the Local Water Partnerships (PLE) of Mono and Couffo, the Consumers Associations of Drinking Water (CAPE) and the social intermediation NGOs
