Bangladesh Water Partnership (BWP), in collaboration with the Institute of Microfinance (InM), organised a seminar on 15 November on micro finance in climate change adaptation. The aim was to identify bankable projects and overcome challenges at village level in implementing climate resilience projects.
The 7th SADC Multi Stakeholder Water Dialogue, a biennial activity which provides a platform for regional stakeholders to discuss and share experiences on different aspects of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) will this year be held from the 29th to the 30th of September in Windhoek, Namibia. Running under the theme “Watering Development in SADC: The central role of water in driving industrialization” this year's Water Dialogue will focus on unpacking the role that water will play in driving industrialisation in the region. From 19-23 May 2014, the GWPEA in partnership with the Kenya Water Partnership and the Nile IWRM Net organised a regional training workshop on Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) as a tool for adaptation to climate change. The training aimed to strengthen the capacities of the countries in the Nile Basin and regional organisations for understanding climate change impacts and develop and implement adaptation programmes.
The Expert Task Force of the joint GWP/OECD Global Dialogue project met in Paris in November to evaluate their work on the economics of water security. The report will be finalized in the coming months, before the official version is presented at the World Water Forum in South Korea in April 2015.
The Global Water Partnership (GWP) has published its Annual Report for 2014, highlighting the Network’s achievements across all its thirteen (13) Regional Water Partnerships (RWPs) which includes the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C).
“Improving water governance for achieving financial sustainability in the Mediterranean” is the topic of the event organised by Global Water Partnership - Mediterranean (GWP-Med), during the upcoming World Water Week in Stockholm, within the framework of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) labelled project ‘Governance & Financing for the Mediterranean Water Sector’ and with the financial support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).
The Volta Basin Authority (VBA) held from August 3 to 5, 2015, in Abidjan, Republic of Côte d'Ivoire the Regional Stakeholder Forum on Governance in the Volta Basin under the theme "Water, source of conflict or cooperation".
Organized by the VBA in collaboration with IUCN, the meeting gathered the focal points of the VBA, civil society, the six riparian countries (Benin, Burkina, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Mali, and Togo) and resource persons from IUCN, WRCC / ECOWAS, CILSS and GWP / WA.
