Final Consultation Meeting for the Presentation of the Buna/Bojana Transboundary Integrated Management Plan

The Transboundary Integrated Management Plan for the Buna/Bojana Area (“the Plan”) was presented during a Consultation Meeting on 7 September 2015, in Ulcinj, Montenegro. The Plan was jointly prepared by the Regional Activity Centre for the Priority Actions Programme (PAP/RAC), Global Water Partnership – Mediterranean (GWP-Med) and UNESCO ‐ International Hydrological Programme (UNESCO-IHP), in the framework of the GEF UNEP/MAP Strategic Partnership for the Mediterranean Large Marine Ecosystem (MedPartnership).

Ghana: Second interaction with WACDEP field partners and leaders of WACDEP beneficiary communities

Ghana Country Water Partnership (CWP-Ghana) organised a two (2) days interaction session with the communities and institutions involved in the water security and climate resilient development field demonstration project. This was a follow up to the discussions held with the implementing partners in November, 2015. This took place on 12th and 13th April, 2016. The visit was carried out by the Communications Officer of WACDEP Ghana and members of the Project Coordination team from the White Volta Basin Office led by the Project Assistant of the Coordination Unit.

Water Management in Mongolia Needs Improving

Mongolia was recently established as a GWP Country Water Partnership (CWP). Professor Davaa Basandorj is the Executive Director of the new CWP. He says that the biggest water problem in Mongolia is water shortage, and that the water management in the country has to be improved.

ECOWAS to launch water Observatory project

GWP WAF took part in ECOWAS Water Resources Coordination Center’s launching workshop of the project for the establishment of the regional water observatory of ECOWAS. This project aims to contribute to the improvement of the performance of the water sector through the operationalization of the Centre for Water and strengthening the capacity of actors. The occasion was also seized for information on the ADB funding procedures. GWP / WA could be a partner in the implementation of certain project actions. GWP-C Helps Bring Together Caribbean Organisations in Water and Wastewater to Strengthen Regional Cooperation

The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) together with the United Nations Environment Programme, Caribbean Regional Coordinating Unit (UNEP-CAR/RCU) and the Global Environment Facility’s Caribbean Regional Fund for Wastewater Management (GEF CReW) were able to successfully bring together over thirty (30) regional organisations working in the areas of water and wastewater in the Caribbean on April 28th and 29th, 2014 in Barbados.

National workshop for the dissemination and ownership of ECOWAS water infrastructures guidelines in Côte d’Ivoire

The ECOWAS Water Resources Coordination Center and IUCN have organized on 1 and 2 October 2015 in Abidjan a national workshop on the dissemination and appropriation of the guidelines for the development of water infrastructure in West Africa. The workshop brought together twenty participants from the National Assembly, technical ministries and civil society, having a direct interest in the application of the guidelines. CWP Ivory Coast (PNECI) was represented by its Chair, Mr. Koffi N'DRI and KOUADIO Francis, the Executive Secretary.
