Burkina Faso, a Sahelian country with essentially rain-fed water resources, is experiencing a depletion of its water resources at a time when the demand for water for households and development needs is increasing. This has a negative impact on the quality of available resources, particularly due to pollution of various origins.
The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) is looking forward to improved collaboration and support opportunities to introduce innovative water management solutions from the Kingdom of the Netherlands following a meeting on Thursday October 3rd 2024, in Grenada.
The first United Nations conference on water since 1977 will be held at the United Nations HQ from 22-24 March 2023. This will be a watershed moment for the sustainable development community as a whole, and GWP, as a leading authority on water governance, is committed to playing an active role in advancing the global water agenda.
"Young people are a very important force for both sustainable development and rational management of water resources. In the West African sub-region, this force is very under-used. GWP is therefore working with organisations at regional and sub-regional levels as well as youth movements to make their voices heard so that they are more involved and sustained in the decision-making processes of the water sector, in the implementation of the Paris Climate Agreement, of the SDG #6 in the West African region. Young people are the successors of tomorrow, and nothing can or should be done without them”.
Due to numerous requests received from applicants, convenors of the Water Changemaker Innovation Awards 2023 have extended the application period by additional two weeks. The new deadline is Thursday, August 31, 2023 (11:59 CET).
