The Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWP SA) partnered with UNDP to follow up with a set of national dialogues on water. The water dialogues form part of the 11 thematic consultations now underway by the United Nations (UN) in preparation for developing Sustainable Development Goals (SD) in 2015. GWPSA engaged stakeholders from three countries to organise consultations during the months of February – April 2013. These are South Africa, Tanzania, and Mozambique.
The Zambian Government and numerous stakeholders have attached great importance to the water agenda as evidenced in its participation in the SDG Consultation on Water held on 5th March 2014 at Cresta Golfview Hotel, Lusaka, Zambia.
The Training Workshop on “How to connect policy and science for an improved water management: A practical introduction to application of knowledge brokering in the Sava River Basin Management Planning” that was held from the 30th of November to the 2nd of December 2011 in Zagreb, Croatia was proved to be fruitful and lucrative.
An essential part of printing publications and other material is to make sure that there are no mistakes. Once printed, there is no way back. To avoid errors, GWPO has developed a checklist for what to check before the material is printed.
The ToolBox Workshop was held on 22-23 March 2013 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University.
Improving the governance and economic value of drilling
To inspire Caribbean journalists to report more on water, GWP Caribbean launched its first annual Media Awards on Water on 5 March 2012. The winner is Mr. Shane Hubbard, an Editor and Videographer from CNS TV6 in Guyana who produced a television piece under the theme “Water and Food Security”.
The one day stakeholder consultation on water was held at the Hotel VIP in Maputo, Mozambique on 15th April 2013. The meeting was attended by 23 stakeholders from key government water ministries, departments, authorities, the private sector (WASH), academia, and international organisations.
