GWP CACENA Special Focused Event at the Dushanbe High-Level International Conference on Water Cooperation

The Dushanbe High-Level International Conference on Water Cooperation, organized by the Government of Tajikistan on 20 and 21 August 2013, gathered a considerable audience to discuss and share various opinions on the role of water in sustainable development.

 

GWP CACENA, aiming to present its Program on Climate Change Adaptation for 2013-2015, has organized the Special Focused Event "IWRM as a practical approach for adaptation to climate change in the countries of Central Asia and Caucasus".

Hungary

Located in Central Europe, northwest of Romania, Hungary is a landlocked state bordering Austria, Croatia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine. As such, it has a strategic location astride main land routes between Western Europe and Balkan Peninsula as well as between Ukraine and Mediterranean basin. New Step in Financing Water Sector in Central Africa

The Ministers in charge of water of the Member States of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) met on April 6, 2012, in Bangui, to discuss options for the establishment of a regional Water Resources Management Coordination Centre. One of the recommendations of the meeting was that the ECCAS General Secretariat, working together with GWP Central Africa and the Development Bank of Central African States (BDEAC), finalizes the strategic documents for water financing in Central Africa and submits them for adoption by ECCAS Members States.

Romania

Situated in the Southeastern Europe by the Black Sea, Romania borders Bulgaria, Hungary, Moldova, Serbia, and Ukraine. It has a temperate climate with cold winters, frequently accompanied by snow and sunny summers.  In terms of terrain, the central Transylvanian Basin is separated from the Moldavian Plateau on the east by the Eastern Carpathian Mountains and separated from the Walachian Plain on the south by the Transylvanian Alps. Romania has substantial natural reserves, including petroleum (declining reserve), timber, natural gas, coal and iron ore.

The theme of the 4th Africa Water Week 14-18 May in Cairo, Egypt, is “Water for Growth in Africa, AMCOW’s Journey @10”. The Global Water Partnership will be launching the AMCOW/GWP Strategic Framework material.
