The Policy Dialogue in the framework of the joint GWP-Med and OECD Project on Governance & Financing for the Mediterranean Water Sector held its second consultation workshop in Tunis on March 5, 2014.

The Indus River is a major transboundary river in Asia with nine tributaries. The River is about 2,800km long, with 2,682 km in Pakistan. The Indus drainage basin covers an area of about 1,140,000 km2 stretching from Afghanistan through China, India, and Pakistan. Monsoonal rains are the most important flood-causing factor in the Indus basin, followed by the size, shape, and land-use of the catchments as well as the conveyance capacity of the corresponding streams. The monsoon rains fall from June to September, and are generally intense and widespread.

The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) in partnership with the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) is implementing a Water Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP) for the Caribbean.

A national workshop organized by the Permanent Secretariat of the National Council on Environment and Sustainable Development (SP/CONEDD) was held on 27 March 2014 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso to validate “the study and mapping of the vulnerability to climate change of water resources in the Nakanbé basin”.

The Intersectoral roundtable "Country Consultations on Water Speak to post-2015 Agenda" was held on 7 March 2014 in Dushanbe at the Institute of Water Problems, Energy and Environment of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan. The roundtable was organized by CWP-Tajikistan jointly with the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan under support of GWP CACENA.

The overall objective of the course is to develop capacity of stakeholders towards a better appreciation of climate change impacts in water resources and the ability to use IWRM approach as a tool for climate change adaptation. [Read More]
