UNDP's Cap-Net Programme, in collaboration with GWP has completed the implementation of a three year project to strengthen capacity in water management in Africa and the Caribbean. Cap-Net worked closely with the GWP’s network of water partnerships and GWP participated in the preparation of activities and the identification of participants.
Situated west of Senegal, Cape Verde is a group of islands in the North Atlantic Ocean. The climate is temperate with warm dry summers. The precipitation is meager and erratic. The terrain is volcanic with one active Volcano (Fogo) which last erupted in 1995. Cape Verde is rich in salt, basalt rock, limestone, kaolin, fish, clay and gypsum.
Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI), the national supplier of water and sanitation services in Guyana
and long-standing partner of Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) decided to focus its participation at the 2011 International Building Expo on educating thousands of Guyanese about the benefits of rainwater harvesting as a means of water conservation.

Dr. Danka Thalmeinerova, GWP’s Knowledge Management Officer, wrote this blog after attending a meeting on September 3-4, 2012, hosted by Finland, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes (Water Convention).
GWP knowledge and expertise was shared with an IUCN-Asia delegation that visited the Nile Basin Initiative Secretariat in Entebbe, Uganda, on 12 September 2011. GWP Eastern Africa presented its work on IWRM processes.
