GWP Country Water Partnerships met November 6 to start work on a road map for an initiative between the GWP Water, Climate and Development Programme for Africa (WACDEP), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the Nile Basin Initiative. Participants agreed that WACDEP will be implemented as a joint programme with the UNEP climate change adaptation project on the Nile Basin. GWP Eastern Africa is supporting UNEP to build stakeholder capacities.

This has come under increasing demographic stress since India is home to about 16% of the global population. The Nile region relies heavily on its groundwater, nevertheless, it is often neglected in national water policies. However, efforts were made to integrate groundwater as an aspect of IWRM, predominantly through a proposal of relevant capacity building actions. These were categorised into three groups: groundwater governance, operational management and, analytical tools to support operational management, illustrating that the main focus should still be devoted on the institutional and regulatory frameworks and management instruments.
Dniester river basin is a transboundary basin shared by Moldova and Ukraine. Throughout the Soviet era, the water quality deteriorated severely. After the USSR was dissolved, a bilateral agreement was signed by Moldova and Ukraine on the joint use and protection of water resources. This cooperation framework is based on the contributions of network of local authorities. This case illustrates the importance of cooperation among all key stakeholders.
Representatives from government ministries, non-governmental organanisations (NGOs) and community-based organisations (CBOs) all convened on February 15th, 2012 for the 8th Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) Stakeholder Meeting put on by the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) and the Water Resources Agency (WRA) of Trinidad and Tobago.
GWP Hungary organized for the 5th time the national final of the Danube Box competition on 19 May in Budapest. The competition was hosted as each year by the Geological Institute of Hungary.
National winner team from Fényi Gyula Jesuit Secondary Grammar School in Miskolc won national final held on 1 June 2013 at the Museum of Hungarian Agriculture in Budapest.
As part of the Africa programme on Water, Climate and Development (WACDEP), a Framework for Water Security and Climate Resilient Development is under preparation.
