African Development Bank highlighted success of IWRM planning in Burundi

The Africa Water Facility review mission to Burundi has concluded that the IWRM planning process has achieved its purpose and has recommended financial support to implement the plan. The mission also decided to use its experience in Burundi as a building block for other countries in Eastern Africa and transboundary water management.

Mali: Capitalizing on the process of elaboration of the Action Plan for IWRM (#345)

Encouraged by regional developments, Mali initiated the process to implement IWRM. This was done in three stages: 1) a project team and a Steering Committee were set up to define the management and steering framework of the project, 2) a situation analysis was developed and discussed with broad stakeholder groups and 3) a provisional Action Plan was prepared. This case study illustrates the key moments and events of the process of elaboration of the IWRM.

Workshop on Theory and Practice of Water-eco Civilization Progress

The  Workshop was held in  chenzhou, Hunan Province on January 17, 2014. Mr. Zheng Rugang, Coordinator of GWP China was invited to the workshop. Before the workshop, the report on the work in 2013 completed by GWP China Hunan was made by Mr.Liu Siyuan, Vice Chair of GWP China Hunan.

PRESS RELEASE - Caribbean Ministers Endorse the Importance of Strengthening Wastewater Management in the Region

Five (5) Caribbean Ministers with responsibility for water resources management from Barbados, Anguilla, The Commonwealth of Dominica, Nevis and the Turks and Caicos Islands, and five (5) senior ministerial/ government representatives from Saint Kitts, Grenada, Antigua and Barbuda, Guadeloupe and Belize have endorsed recommendations for placing greater value on wastewater in the region and its role in the holistic management of water in Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

Managing Central American transboundary basins

Managua eventIn Central America there are 23 transboundary basins which represent approximately 36.9% of the territory. But in most there are no joint agreements for their management. That is why GWP Nicaragua and the Latin American Water Tribunal (TLA) coordinated the regional forum, "Water in Central America: Opportunities for conflict resolution."
