GWP will receive £9 million in funding from the UK's Department for International Development, through to 2015. The UK’s Water Security Programme was announced at the climate change negotiations in Doha at COP 18 by the UK Secretary of State, Edward Davey, on Tuesday, December 4, 2012.
World Water Day is a major event celebrated and observed by the Philippine water sector.
This year’s WWD theme:“International Year of Water Cooperation” was translated into local slogan of “Tubig Para sa Lahat, Lahat Para sa Tubig” (“Water for all, all for Water”) and served as the core message for the celebration participated by multi-stakeholders coming from the government sector, private sector and non-government organizations (NGOs).
As an implementation of cooperation between GWP and UNDP, Indonesia Water Partnership held a National Consultations on Water in Post-2015 Development Agenda on 4 March 2013 in Ministry of Public Work Building, Jakarta .
The thematic consultation was focused on water have three defined subsets for water: (1) Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), (2) Wastewater/Water Quality (WW/Q) and (3) Water Resources Management (WRM).
GWP Armenia and GWP Turkmenistan have conducted several projects focused on schools. The purpose is to engage more young people in water resources management.
The Yangtze River Basin has been severely affected by climate change. To address this, the Yangtze River Basin Climate Change Vulnerability and Adaptation Report has been drafted to evaluate the impact on representative ecosystems and water resources, and pinpoint adaptation strategies. The experience has demonstrated that good adaptation measures should consider not only climate itself, but also other factors, such as economy, technology, as well as social and cultural norms.
A sustainable sanitation workshop was held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on 4-5 April. The event drew parallels among different toolboxes and programmes and enabled networking among experts in the GWP Central and Eastern Europe region.
