Upgrading Flood Information in Pakistan

In 2010, the devastating floods in Pakistan directly affected about 20 million people, mostly by destruction of property, livelihood and infrastructure. GWP Pakistan is now collaborating with UNESCO to launch a project in cooperation with the Government of Japan that aims to upgrade the flood forecasting and early warning systems of Pakistan, and to conduct risk mapping of flood plains along the Indus River.

India: Capacity Building for Improved Water Management in Andhra Pradesh (#359)

India is currently facing huge challenges in water management, including disputes on reservoir releases, over-exploitation of groundwater resources, degradation of wet lands, salt-water intrusion in coastal regions and shortages in drinking water supply. Action was taken to initiate a pilot research project to generate and disseminate knowledge. This case study illustrates that pilot demonstrations and capacity building are a prerequisite for promoting improved water management practices to all stakeholders.

Croatian children won the "International Danube Art Master 2013" competition, the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River and Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe announced today at the Budapest Water Summit.

GWP Med in the DIKTAS Project

The DIKTAS Project (2010 – 2014) is initiated by the aquifer-sharing states and is a full-size GEF regional project, implemented by UNDP and executed by UNESCO. The activities of the project focus on Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia and Montenegro. Several other countries and international organizations have also joined this challenging project and provide valuable contribution to realisation of its objectives.

Development of Water Law in Georgia

On May 29, 2013, GWP Georgia organised a meeting with NGOs in Tbilisi for a presentation of the draft water law by an expert group. GWP Georgia’s role as a catalyst was recognized by the participants as having improved the water legislation.

Caribbean Voices at the 2012 GWP Consulting Partners Meeting

Each year, the Global Water Partnership (GWP) holds its Consulting Partners (CP) Meeting, where it brings together all its Regional Water Partnerships (RWPs) and partners from more than 160 countries. The Meeting offers a consultative approach in which Partners recommend actions to be taken that are fundamental to the operation of the GWP network.
