If you are concerned about adapting to climate change – as you should be – then water is your principal worry. Suddenly there seems to be too much, or too little, or sometimes both, at different times. And the pattern is just too unpredictable. Which is just one of the reasons we need to start using AI.
Under the GEF/UNEP MedProgramme, a Nexus Policy Dialogue for Lebanon based on a Nexus Assessment, led by GWP-Med aims to promote tangible solutions contributing to the security of water, energy and food resources, while protecting valuable ecosystems and their functions.
Born in 1934, Dr. Madhav A. Chitale has played a major role in getting India’s decision-makers and strategic planners to think of water as a resource whose quality and availability need to be safeguarded. As a part of the nationwide programmes to develop cover several rivers, Dr Chitale was one of those who originated of the Ganga Action Plan to improve the waters of the holy river. He was also involved in the development of the World Water Council and the Global Water Partnership.
We now open the call for applicants for the 2023-2024 Youth for Water and Climate (YWC) Programme cohort. This call is open to applicants from the following countries: France, Lithuania, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and the Netherlands.
About thirty participants took part in the training workshop on the integration of integrated water resources management (IWRM) in local development planning tools in the Mekrou Niger sub-basin from 19 to 21 December in Dosso, Niger.
This process, initiated by the Cameroon government in 2023, has been supported by several technical and financial partners, including the World Bank, the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) and GWP Central Africa (GWP-CAf). After nine sessions of the working group set up for this purpose by the Ministry of Water and Energy (MINEE), the latter organized 2 working sessions with all stakeholders in the water sector from March 25 to 27, 2024 and from May 28 to 31, 2024 in Mbankomo, Yaounde.
The "Zero Drop" water resources protection program, implemented by Global Water Partnership - Mediterranean (GWP-Med) in collaboration with the Municipality of Heraklion, with funding from The Coca-Cola Foundation and Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company, 'travels' to Heraklion, Crete and saves 14.5 million liters of water annually by improving irrigation water supply systems at five locations.
Stakeholders from all Economies in South-East Europe (SEE) and representing the sectors of water resources management, agriculture, energy and environmental protection, participated in the 4th Regional Nexus Roundtable in SEE that was held on 26 July 2022 in hybrid mode in Tirana and online.
