From 2007, the annual Southern African Development Community (SADC) Multi-Stakeholder Water Dialogues, organised by GWP Southern Africa on behalf of the SADC Water Division, have informed action plans at regional, river basin, national and local levels. Although the Dialogues encourage cross-sectoral integration, until now they have largely been regarded as meetings for 'water people'.
“This Partnership is very important and its implementation should support Gambia in the sustainable management of its water resources ... June 14, 2011 — Yesterday a coalition of water advocates organized a side event at a United Nations climate conference to highlight the urgency of recognizing water resources management as central to climate change mitigation and adaptation.
The annual Global Water Partnership Consulting Partners Meeting will be held in the vicinity of the Arlanda Airport, Stockholm, Sweden on September 3rd – 4th immediately before the Stockholm World Water Week. The theme of the meeting will be: “Exploring the role of Water Security in Regional Economic Development”.
‒ Launching of a Strategic Framework at Africa Water Week 2012
In an effort to address the twin challenges of water security and climate change, the African Ministers Council on Water launched The Strategic Framework for Water Security and Climate Resilient Development on May 14, 2012, at the Africa Water Week, in Cairo, Egypt.
As part of its continuing implementation of the 2009-2013 Strategy, GWP is developing strategies on gender and youth. The strategies will be elaborated in a participatory way, involving GWP regions and Partner organizations.
Two countries from the Caribbean region, Jamaica and Antigua were selected for a United Nations (UN) Water Resources Report which looks specifically at the application of integrated approaches to the development, management and use of water resources.
