From 2007, the annual Southern African Development Community (SADC) Multi-Stakeholder Water Dialogues, organised by GWP Southern Africa on behalf of the SADC Water Division, have informed action plans at regional, river basin, national and local levels. Although the Dialogues encourage cross-sectoral integration, until now they have largely been regarded as meetings for 'water people'.
The meeting of the 3rd Conference of the 2nd GWP China Council was held in Beijing on February 16, 2011.
The African Ministers Council on Water recently (AMCOW) acknowledged the value of its partnership with GWP at their General Assembly in Cairo, Egypt, on May 14, 2012, where the AMCOW Framework for Water Security and Climate Resilient Development was launched. Honourable S.S. Nkomo, Vice President of AMCOW, and Minister of Water Resources and Development, Zimbabwe, said, ‘we have good partners, AMCOW values the partnership with GWP and partners, and hereby welcomes this Framework’. ‒ Launching of a Strategic Framework at Africa Water Week 2012
In an effort to address the twin challenges of water security and climate change, the African Ministers Council on Water launched The Strategic Framework for Water Security and Climate Resilient Development on May 14, 2012, at the Africa Water Week, in Cairo, Egypt.
This Partnership is very important and its implementation should contribute to support the Gambia in the sustainable management of its water resources ... The government and my department will provide all necessary support to do so.
GWP partners with more than 2,800 registered organisations that share its aims and values in tackling the sustainable development, management, and use of water resources. Partners share information and experiences, and draw on each other for advice and assistance.
