As a leading authority on water governance, GWP continued to put water at the centre of development at the UN 2023 Water Conference by participating in and leading over 30 events, committing pledges to the Water Action Agenda, and launching a sourcebook on managing multistakeholder partnerships to improve the global management of water resources. But, despite the best efforts of the delegates, was this conference the watershed moment promised?
The Global Water Partnership Southern Africa, GWPSA, is providing technical support toward the development of 8 national funding concept notes, 3 transboundary projects, and 2 multi-country funding proposals aimed at accelerating WEF investments in the region.
The session coordinated by GWP-WA was held on Thursday 23 May 2024 at the Senegal Pavilion during the World Water Forum in Bali, Indonesia. The governments of Malawi, Tanzania, and Mozambique signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the joint management and development of the Ruvuma/Rovuma River Basin, a transboundary river basin traversing across the three SADC member states. Ministers of Water from the three member states; Hon. Abida Mia from Malawi, Hon. Carlos Alberto Fortes Mesquita from Mozambique, and Hon. Jumas Hamidu Aweso from Tanzania, signed the MoU on behalf of their countries.

On 2 April 2025, the first of a series of webinars under the DANURELY-WS (Danube Youth Leadership for Water Security) project took place. The online event, organized by the Water Research Institute (VÚVH, Slovakia) in collaboration with GWP CEE, focused on the topic of youth involvement in improving water quality in the Danube region.
