Conflicts over water resources exist in Vietnam as in many parts of the world where a large population have to share scarce water resources. To tackle these issues, GWP Vietnam organized a workshop on 29th November 2011, in Hanoi, to discuss solutions through and integrated approach to Food-Water-Energy Security.
While pollution problems have long been acknowledged in the Okavango Delta, it was the Botswana IWRM-WE Plan project (facilitated by GWP Botswana, led by Botswana's Department of Water Affairs, and funded by UNDP GEF) which brought stakeholders and institutions together to act on the issue. This contrasted with the isolated, ad hoc project and departmental actions that had gone before.
In order to place climate change adaptation higher on the regional agenda, GWP Central America co-organized a two-day workshop on “Regional development and its relationship to water and climate change.”
The Global Water Partnership (GWP) and the African Ministers Council on Water (AMCOW) have unveiled a joint programme to support climate change adaptation in Africa.
