The theme for the International Day for Biological Diversity in 2013 chosen by the Convention for Biological Diversity (CBD) is “Water and Biodiversity”. This theme was chosen to coincide with the United Nations designation of 2013 as the International Year of Water Cooperation. The first Meeting of the Parties to the Memorandum of Understanding for the Management of the Extended Transboundary Drin Basin (Drin MoU - Tirana, 25 November 2011) was held on 28 May 2013 in Tirana, Albania.
The Meeting of the Parties reviewed the progress in the implementation of the Drin MoU and endorsed the Action Plan for its implementation. The Action Plan guides the related work undertaken by the Parties with the facilitation of the Drin Core Group and its Secretariat.
