The GWP Caribbean (GWP-C) publication the Grenada Review of Legislation with respect to the Water Sector helped set in motion a process that led, in 2008, to Grenada becoming one of four Caribbean countries with a water policy.
GWP Central America and other organisations have contributed to reactivating Central America’s IWRM Strategy (ECAGIRH), which had been lying fallow since 2006 due to lack of finances.
The annual GWP Consulting Partners meeting in Stockholm 15-17 August brought together 165 delegates from 75 countries. This year’s focus was the 2009-2013 Strategic Plan.
The Global Water Partnership’s mission is to support the sustainable development and management of water resources at all levels. In implementing our 2009-2013 Strategy, our support will focus on four key goals: promoting water as a key part of sustainable national development; addressing critical development challenges (such as climate change, food security energy security and urbanization); reinforcing knowledge sharing and communications and; building a more effective network.
GWP encourages support to the fight against Global Warming through this WWF initiative.
With that question, GWP Patron HRH Prince Willem-Alexander challenged GWP to propose activities that will give him and GWP an active role in the 5th World Water Forum in Istanbul in March 2009. During a two-day visit to Stockholm World Water Week, sandwiched between the Beijing Olympics, the Prince met with GWP representatives on August 19.
