GWP Chair Letitia A Obeng visited China 15- 19 October to participate in the High-Level International Forum on Water Resources and Hydropower in Beijing.

GWP Acting Executive Secretary Martin Walshe together with Network Officer Aly Kerdany and representatives of the GWP Southern Africa, Eastern Africa, Western Africa & Central Africa regions attended the Joint Meetings of the African Ministers’ Council On Water(AMCOW), African Development Bank (ADB), and UN Water in Addis Ababa 7-9 October 2008.

GWP Acting Executive Secretary Martin Walshe together with Network Officer Aly Kerdany and representatives of the GWP Southern Africa, Eastern Africa, Western Africa & Central Africa regions attended the Joint Meetings of the African Ministers’ Council On Water(AMCOW), African Development Bank (ADB), and UN Water in Addis Ababa 7-9 October 2008.

This paper (805,77KB) emphasizes that the provision of environmentally sound systems in an integrated way, taking into account the whole water cycle of water supply, wastewater, solid waste collection, treatment and reuse, is the best way forward to addressing this critical challenge.

This policy brief makes the case for an integrated approach that encompasses the whole water cycle– municipal and industrial wastewater and storm drainage. It outlines the economic, policy and institutional aspects and provides guidance on policies and institutions needed to support water reuse. Policy briefs provide policy makers with information on water resources management. They are written by the GWP Technical Committee, a group of internationally recognised professionals in integrated water resources management.

Water governance in West Africa

Water is central to the world’s development challenges. This briefing note presents recommendations on how to take water into account in climate change negotiations. Briefing notes are two-page summaries on selected topics. They are prepared by GWP’s Global Secretariat and its partners.

 At the end of the Global Water Partnership’s (GWP) Consulting Partners meeting and the start of the Stockholm World Water Week, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the GWP and the European Water Partnership (EWP).

The China-India Youth Forum was taken place in Beijing, August, 2009. As the co-sponsor of this forum, GWP China sent Mr. Zheng Rugang, Secretary General of GWP China, as the representative to discuss with the counterparts from Peking University about the preparatory issues.

The International Conference of World Ecoculture and Environment Education was jointly held by the Institute of World Literature and the Center and Cross-Cultural Studies of Peking University, GWP China, Global Citizens of Sustainable Development of India and Gutenburg University Mainz of Germany from August 14 to 20, 2009.
