The district of Tikamgarh has faced severe water scarcity. Action was thus taken to implement concrete measures to restore the water bodies in the surrounding area. Together with relevant stakeholders, the district administration initiated and implemented the project. The key lesson to draw from this case is the need for the participation by all relevant groups. 

River Indio’s watershed is the source of water supply for the growing demand in the metropolitan area of Panamá. However, due to extensive human activity and mismanagement the area has been affected by extensive deterioration. Action has been taken to reinforce natural resources restoration and water resources conservation, grounded in government strenthening and integrated management. Important lessons can be drawn from this in terms of IWRM, as it sets a clear example of active participation of the communities and the local authorities.

Changing the behaviour of water users and water managers towards more sustainable practices is a necessary step in achieving water security. However, this requires changes of deeply held attitudes in individuals, institutions, professionals, and social organisations to encourage a more water-oriented society. By definition, social change instruments are not neutral: the positive aims that one person might pursue with their behavioural change could be considered destructive by others. The Global Water Partnership - Mediterranean (GWP-Med) is seeking to hire experts from the Drin Riparians to provide GIS and Database technical assistance to the Project Management Team for the preparation of Thematic Reports that will form part of the Drin Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis.

This is a Technical Background Paper, written by the GWP Technical Committee, a group of internationally recognised professionals in integrated water resources management.

This policy brief explains the importance of cooperation between states in order to resolve water problems and share limited resources. It describes where the critical challenges lie and which international laws and instruments are available to solve conflicts between States that have competing claims. Policy briefs provide policy makers with information on water resources management. They are written by the GWP Technical Committee, a group of internationally recognised professionals in integrated water resources management.

Farmer Managed Irrigation Systems (FMIS) Promotion Trust in collaboration with GWP Nepal/JVS organised the 7th International Seminar on ‘Irrigation in Local Adaptation and Resilience' on 11 and 12 April 2017 at Himalaya Hotel, Lalitpur, Nepal.

On September18 and 19, 2014, in Beijing, the Senior Network Officer Angela Klaeusen visited the Secretariat of the GWP China to conduct a two-day working meeting for reviewing the progress of GWP China activities in 2014 and preparing the plan of 2015.
