The GWP SA Consulting Partner’s (CP) meeting was held in Harare, Zimbabwe from 12-14 June 2013. The Consulting Partners Meeting is held every two years with the aim of engaging partners in discussions relating to network strengthening. Comprising a total of fifty participants, The CP meeting constituted GWPSA staff, 2 representatives from GWPSA’s Country Water Partnerships (CWPs), namely from ten countries: Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe; Members from GWPSA Steering Committee, and Regional Technical Committee; and representatives from GWPSA’s implementing partners were present on behalf of their agencies. These included CAPNET, and Chemonics and the Climate Resilient Infrastructure Development Facility (CRIDF).

At its core, the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) is a knowledge sharing Network.

The African Ministers Council on Water recently (AMCOW) acknowledged the value of its partnership with GWP at their General Assembly in Cairo, Egypt, on May 14, 2012, where the AMCOW Framework for Water Security and Climate Resilient Development was launched. Honourable S.S. Nkomo, Vice President of AMCOW, and Minister of Water Resources and Development, Zimbabwe, said, ‘we have good partners, AMCOW values the partnership with GWP and partners, and hereby welcomes this Framework’. World Water Day 2014 marks a big day for Global Water Partnership (GWP). Not only is the network taking part in the worldwide UN campaign to raise awareness on water-related issues – as it does every year – but this time GWP is also launching its new Strategy on this very day.

Institutions responsible for delivering such services can be public, private, or cooperatively owned and manged entities but can also result from collaborations between these sectors. Service providers are responsible for establishing, maintaining, and upgrading the water supply system, which typically involves for: collection, treatment, distribution, quality control, sewage, and reuse of water. IWRM principles stipulate that water should be provided in adequate, quality, and affordable supplies. An integrated strategy also presupposes that water services should be tailored according to the social, economic, and environmental contexts.

Coordination and facilitation bodies (CFBs) and instruments play the very important role of articulating and harmonizing the actions and visions of the numerous entities concerned with water management. Whether it is at the international, national, or even regional level, mediators are always needed in dealing with water related issues. Tools under this section can be seen as tying strings for an IWRM strategy and for good water governance to crystalize.
