As one of sponsors of the 3rd Yangtze River Forum which is one of great water events in China, the GWP China contributed both experts and expertise to the forum, April 19~21, 2009.
The International Research and Training Center on Erosion and Sedimentation (IRTCES) is one of partners of GWP China. On behalf of the Ministry of Water Resources and the UNESCO, the Center organized the International Advanced Training Workshop on International River Basin Management lasting from July 28 to August 3, 2009. There were 51 trainees from 18 countries, covering Asian, European Oceania and African continents, who participated in the training course.
On behalf of GWP China, Mr. Zheng Rugang, Executive Secretary of GWP China; Ms. Ma Yilin, Programme Officer of GWP China and Dr. Yin Junxian, Senior Engineer of China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research attended CP Meeting and World Water Week in Stockholm, Sweden from August 15 to 21, 2009.
Dakar, Senegal, 21-23 January 2010
The event took place in Dakar, Senegal from 21 to 23 January 2010, at the invitation of the Organization for the Development of the Senegal River (OMVS).
The meeting was held under the auspices of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Senegal and honored with the effective presence of the President of the Senate, the President of the National Assembly, the President of the Economic and Social Council, the Prime Minister and the Minister for Energy of the Republic of Senegal, as well as of the Minister for Energy and Water of the Republic of Mali, the Minister for Hydraulics and Sanitation of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, the Vice-Mayor of Dakar and the High-Commissioner of OMVS.
GWP Ethiopia launched pilot projects in the Berki and Messena watersheds to promote IWRM, establish a framework for broader stakeholder participation, and enhance grassrootslevel water management practices.
At a regional meeting of the Uzbekistan Central Asia and South Caucasus Water Utilities Network (CASCWUN), held in Tashkent in March 2008, representatives of 14 water utilities from seven CACENA countries signed an agreement on the network’s statutes and a programme of joint activities for 2008–2009.
