More than twenty (20) stakeholders in St. Lucia from Ministries of Public Utilities and Finance and other government agencies, the private sector, non-governmental organisations, water and wastewater managers, legal practitioners, among others were trained in the area of Water Financing in a workshop held in St. Lucia on May 28^th and 29^th, 2013 put on by the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) and the National Water and Sewerage Commission (NWSC) of St. Lucia.

June 3 and 4, 2014, in Beijing, the Senior Network Officer Angela Klaeusen who was freshly nominated as the Network Officer of GWP China Region and GWP South Asia Region visited the Secretariat of the GWP China to conduct a two-day working meeting. This is her first time of visiting GWP China Secretariat.

The theme of the GWP Communications training workshop 9-13 December 2013 was "Developing a Communications Strategy".

A project focusing on safe water and sanitation in the Republic of Moldova won Category 2 of the Award.

Water is a core developmental issue; it affects almost every activity within the wider economy and society, including migration, land use and settlement growth and changes in industrial activity. Consequently, the developments that do not necessarily relate to the water sector per se – for example national energy and food policies – are yet always closely connected to water. Setting goals on water use, protection and conservation, must be based on policies that take into account these various interconnections.

There will be three vacant positions on the GWP Steering Committee (SC) to be filled for the November 2017 Steering Committee Meeting, for terms of three years. All three will be selected from independent candidates (who can be self-nominated or proposed). Note 10 April: the deadline for this call has passed, we are no longer accepting nominations.

The Bodrog River Basin is exposed to severe flooding caused by jumbled urbanisation and low connectivity between land (agriculture and forestry), urban and water planning. Management is made more complex by the transboundary nature of the basin. A project was, however initiated to strengthen cooperative management and to mitigate consequences of floods through achieving consistent and holistic management of flood risk in three basin countries. This case illustrates the importance of transboundary flood management.
