The International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction takes place on 13 October. It is an opportunity to acknowledge the progress being made toward reducing disaster risk and losses in lives, livelihoods and health. The 2021 edition will focus on “International cooperation for developing countries to reduce their disaster risk and disaster losses”.
The Water Scarcity Program (WSP) was developed by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization with support from the Australian Government to support countries in Asia-Pacific in taking practical steps to address and manage water scarcity under rapid population growth and in a changing climate. January 13, 2024, 2023 Annual Regional Work Meeting of the Global Water Partnership China was held in Beijing. It adopted a combination of online live streaming and offline participation.
The countries of the world have jointly committed to achieve the SDGs through the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, including the SDG #6 on water and sanitation, central to achieve the other SDGs, particularly related to agriculture, energy, disaster resilience, health, environment and ecosystems, economic growth, and SDG #16 on promoting peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development.

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) has called for integrated planning and collaboration among stakeholders in the water, energy, and food (WEF) sectors, in order to achieve security targets and improve efficiency in managing natural resources.
Zambian Youth representatives from Government agencies, private sector, civil society organizations, academic and research institutions, cooperating partners, and the media convened in Lusaka, Zambia on 31 July 2023 for a Youth Dialogue on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 on Clean Water and Sanitation. The Dialogue was organised by the Global Water Partnership (GWP) Zambia.
