Vision and mission

Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA) shares the vision of the GWP network which is for "a water secure world" with a mission to support countries in the sustainable development and  management of water resources at all levels.

2009-2013 Strategy

The GWP West Africa  strategic plan document  was developed following a participatory process with regional partners of GWP-WA. It was inspired by the five-year strategy of the GWP network with its four strategic goals developed using the methodology of Outcome Mapping.

Launch of the national policy dialogue in Jordan

On 23 October 2013, the joint GWP-Med/OECD Project Governance & Financing for the Mediterranean Water Sector launched the national policy dialogue in Jordan during a consultation workshop held in Amman.

Kenya

Kenya is situated by the Indian Ocean, bordered by Ethiopia, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. The climate is tropical along the coast and arid in the interior. In terms of terrain, the Kenyan Highlands comprise one of the most successful agricultural production regions in Africa. Kenya has deposits of, among other resources, limestone, soda ash, salt and gemstones.

Australia: Reducing land based marine pollution by IWRM approach (#238)

Activities such as horticulture and tourism around the Great Barrier Reef create sediment, nutrient and pesticide runoff, placing increased pressure on the ecosystem. The World Wildlife Fund has taken action, predominantly by raising awareness. The key lesson is how a carefully orchestrated campaign can convince decision-makers of the importance of integrated river basin management as a means of reducing land-based marine pollution.
