The African SIDS Blue Economy Project, a joint initiative supported by the Global Environment Facility, implemented by UNDP, and executed by the Global Water Partnership Southern Africa, under the leadership of the African Union Commission as the focal custodian of the project, was showcased at the Africa Blue Economy Week taking place at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The Africa Blue Economy Week took place from 23 to 25 September 2025.

Sierra Leone has officially launched a national workshop aimed at developing the country’s Climate Resilient Water Investment Programme (CRWIP) and strengthening institutional capacities for mobilizing climate finance, particularly through the Green Climate Fund (GCF). The workshop is jointly organized by the Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA), the National Designated Authority (NDA), and the Ministry of Water and Sanitation.
The Global Water Partnership and the World Meteorological Organization on Thursday, 22 May 2025, hosted a High-Level Dialogue in the context of the G20 to serve as a foundational consultation toward the establishment of the Global Outlook Council on Water Investments. A pre-feasibility study on a reservoir in the Vjosa River Basin is under way within the framework of Phase II of the WEFE Nexus Assessment in Albania under the GEF UNEP/MAP MedProgramme aiming to ultimately support the integration of the Water Energy Food Ecosystems Nexus approach into planning processes and management practices at the national level.
