More than 50 stakeholders representing public institutions, NGOs, international organisations to name but a few participated at the SDG 6.5.1 review process in Lebanon, which has just been concluded with the assistance of GWP-Med.
A specially designed “snakes and ladders” water conservation game developed within GWP-Med’s Zero Drop program, funded by The Coca Cola Foundation, reaches all schoolchildren in Heraklion, Crete.
“Integrated water resources management says it all. We have to talk about the inter-dependencies of water. Water is life, we say, and it really connects to everything … If water is connected to everything, we have to act on that, but we shy away from the real understanding of what water means … either because of its complexity … or because it is connected to past practices and vested interests.”
As a leading authority on water governance, GWP continued to put water at the centre of development at the UN 2023 Water Conference by participating in and leading over 30 events, committing pledges to the Water Action Agenda, and launching a sourcebook on managing multistakeholder partnerships to improve the global management of water resources. We are happy to announce the 5 winners of the gender case study competition, launched in June by GWP and the #IWRMActionHub. The case studies demonstrate how gender equality and inclusion have been improved in water management and climate resilience actions in the Pan African region.
At the UN 2023 Water Conference, GWP joined partners to highlight the source-to-sea approach as a key holistic measure to achieve SDG 6 through new sectoral linkages, as well as SDG 13, 14 and 15.
