New impetus has been given to GWP’s relationship with the African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW) in light of the African Union summit held in Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt), in June 2008.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between GWP China and WWF China for a five-year cooperation framework on January 23, 2011, Beijing.

At the invitation by UKDFID Beijing Office, Mr. Zheng Rugang, Coordinator of GWP China, attended Summary Meeting of China-UK Water Demand Management Project. The organizers of the meeting also invited representatives from World Bank, UNDP, EU-China River Basin Management Project, Australia- China Environmental Management Project and some project pilot provinces.
On behalf of GWP China, Mr. Zheng Rugang, Coordinator, Ms. Ma Yilin, Programme Officer, Prof. Guan Yiqing, Member of GWP China TEC, Mr. Sun Pingan, Vice Chair of GWP China Shaanxi and Mr. Zhang Junqi, Director of Groundwater Bureau, Shaanxi Province, participated in GWP Regional Days and CP Meeting and World Water Week in Stockholm, Sweden from August 31 to September 9, 2010.
The Wenchuan Earthquake on May 12, 2008 in Sichuan Province affected a large area and population in the province and the neighboring provinces particularly the Shaanxi and Gansu provinces, and it also jeopardized the water supply facilities, particularly, in rural areas. The reconstruction of the rural water facilities is one of key projects of Chinese government.
The Global Water Partnership (GWP) will appoint up to three new members for its Technical Committee from January 1st, 2014.
The inaugural meeting of the Technical Working Committee on WACDEP in Ghana was held on 19th September, 2013 at the International Water Management Institute Conference Room in Accra under the auspices of the Ghana Country Water Partnership.
The Chisinau city action plan, formally adopted in December 2010, involved multi-faceted consultations between urban planners, water authorities, transport agencies, monitoring institutes, universities, and other important stakeholders, all with their own interests and technical vocabularies. As a neutral facilitator, GWP Moldova helped this diverse set of stakeholders realize that good water management is important for all.
