GWP India partner Jheel Sanrakshan Samiti (JSS), together with GWP India, convened Women Self Help Groups from 21 communities on 10 October 2011 to address the role of women in the management of water. The marginalized role of women is related to social, educational and cultural traditions, the participants concluded, noting that the State Water Policy stresses the importance of the participation and involvement of women in water management.
The annual GWP Consulting Partners meeting in Stockholm 15-17 August brought together 165 delegates from 75 countries. This year’s focus was the 2009-2013 Strategic Plan.
With that question, GWP Patron HRH Prince Willem-Alexander challenged GWP to propose activities that will give him and GWP an active role in the 5th World Water Forum in Istanbul in March 2009. During a two-day visit to Stockholm World Water Week, sandwiched between the Beijing Olympics, the Prince met with GWP representatives on August 19.
During COP 17, the UNFCCC issued a decision requesting the UNFCCC's Secretariat to organise a Technical Workshop on water and climate change adaptation before COP 18 (December 2012).

Situated west of Senegal, Cape Verde is a group of islands in the North Atlantic Ocean. The climate is temperate with warm dry summers. The precipitation is meager and erratic. The terrain is volcanic with one active Volcano (Fogo) which last erupted in 1995. Cape Verde is rich in salt, basalt rock, limestone, kaolin, fish, clay and gypsum.
