From agricultural fields in Thessaly to the urban streets of the Netherlands, Nature-based Solutions for water retention are gaining ground. As the partner leading Communication & Dissemination for the EU-funded SpongeWorks project, GWP-Med is documenting and disseminating the latest developments taking shape across its demonstration sites in Greece, France, the Netherlands & Germany, and beyond.
GWP-Med delivers new water replenishment project for beverage can manufacturer Crown, in partnership with Korinthos municipality, saving 26 million litres of water annually.
The Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA) participated in the 8th International River and Environment Cooperation (REMCO) Conference, held in Maputo, Mozambique, from 3 to 7 November 2025. Convening more than 150 delegates from Mozambique, Eswatini, South Africa, the Netherlands, and Germany, the conference served as a critical platform for advancing collaborative strategies to strengthen transboundary water governance and climate resilience across the Incomati and Maputo River Basins.
In 2017 and 2020, the SDG 6.5.1 Survey Reporting was conducted, and a post-Survey Assessment of the results was carried out in 2021. One of the challenges in IWRM implementation identified through the assessment was the lack of IWRM understanding among various government stakeholders, as well as the private sector.
As part of the WMO's technical assistance to the project to strengthen climate resilience in Burkina Faso (HYDROMET-BF Project), GWP- WA has coordinated the raising of awareness of hydrometeorological risks and impacts at the end of June 2025.
