From August 26 to 29, 2025, Bamako hosted a national strategic training workshop on climate finance and the preparation of bankable projects through the Green Climate Fund (GCF), as part of the project “Support for GCF Readiness of the African Union Commission's Multi-Country Program to Accelerate the Water Investment Program (AU AIP)”.
The AIP-African Union Multi-Country Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness Project has officially been launched in the Central African Republic. The launch took place during a high-level workshop held in Bangui on August 22, 2025, with financial support from the GCF and technical support from Global Water partnership – Central Africa.
The African Union Commission, in partnership with the Global Water Partnership Africa, is fast-tracking climate finance readiness across the continent through the AU-AIP GCF Readiness Support Initiative, now being implemented in 15 AU Member States. Over recent months, the initiative has recorded tangible milestones that demonstrate growing institutional capacity, stronger investment preparation, and Africa’s readiness to absorb and deploy climate finance at scale.
The transboundary GEF -UNDP CUVKUN Project, under implementation in Angola and Namibia, is inviting stakeholders to review its Social and Environmental Standards (SES) report.

In a collaborative effort to ensure the integrity and reliability of essential water infrastructure, GWP-C teamed up with Daniel and Daniel Engineering Inc. to conduct a comprehensive site inspection at the intake structure/dam and transmission/Distribution mains located in Mt. Granby, St. John. The seven-man technical team, assembled by Daniel and Daniel Engineering Inc., carried out the inspection under the expert guidance of retiree Michael “Freshy” Fleming.
Dr. Roxanne Graham-Victor, Regional Coordinator of the Global Water Partnership–Caribbean (GWP-C), participated as an observer in the 2025–2026 Dry Season Caribbean Climate Outlook Forum (CariCOF) and the 13th Meeting of the Consortium of Regional Sectoral Early Warning Information Systems Across Climate Timescales (EWISACTs), held November 25–26 in Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis.
