Empowering Communities with Timely Climate Information: DRESSEA Project Supports Djibouti’s Production of Drought Bulletins

Small holder farmers and pastoralists in Djibouti are increasingly exposed to climate risks, with recurrent droughts that continue to threaten food security and livelihoods. To help address this challenge, especially in the IGAD region, the DRESSEA project, funded by the Adaptation Fund through the Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS) and implemented regionally by Global Water Partnership Eastern Africa (GWPEA), is supporting: Djibouti, Kenya, Sudan, and Uganda to produce regular, impact based drought bulletins.

A national stakeholder meeting brought together senior government officials, technical experts, and development partners to officially launch two vital strategic documents: The Preliminary Integrated Water Resources Management Action Plan 2026-2030 for (the) Lao PDR and Drought Management Framework in Laos.

Africa’s Pioneering AIP Model Inspires USD 20 Billion Water Investment Programme for Latin America and the Caribbean

The Continental Africa Water Investment Programme (AIP) continues to inspire large-scale water-investment efforts across the world. Following calls from world leaders, including H.E. Ban Ki-moon, 8th UN Secretary-General, and H.E. Cyril Ramaphosa, President of South Africa, to replicate Africa’s proven model in other regions, momentum is now building for the USD 20 billion Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) Water Investment Programme, set for launch in 2026.
