From agricultural fields in Thessaly to the urban streets of the Netherlands, Nature-based Solutions for water retention are gaining ground. As the partner leading Communication & Dissemination for the EU-funded SpongeWorks project, GWP-Med is documenting and disseminating the latest developments taking shape across its demonstration sites in Greece, France, the Netherlands & Germany, and beyond.
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) together with the African Union Commission (AUC), Global Water Management (GWP) and Africa Water Investment Program Secretariat (AIP Sec) organised a training on Climate Resilient Water Projects, Investment and Integrated Water Resources Management in Dakar, Senegal on 7 and 8 July 2025.
The 11th SADC Multi-Stakeholder Water Dialogue was held in Maseru, Lesotho, from 29 to 30 September 2025, where delegates discussed the role of water in regional economic corridor development, positioning and aligning the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus for impactful contribution to the regional economic development corridor agenda.
The States and regional organisations of West Africa and the Sahel region met virtually on 5 December 2024 to discuss the sustainable management of water resources in West Africa, with a particular focus on the regional initiative for the development, resilience and valorisation of water for West Africa (DREVE) and its various pillars. Participants discussed the challenges and opportunities related to climate risk management, project financing, capacity building and the preservation of the Fouta Djallon Mountains.

Community (SADC), in collaboration with the Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho and with the support of the German Government through the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), will host the 11th SADC Multi-Stakeholder Water Dialogue in Maseru, Lesotho, from 29 to 30 September 2025.
On September 26th, the inaugural meeting and academic exchange conference of the GWP China Groundwater Working Committee was held in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province.

Between December 2025 and January 2026, Global Water Partnership Hungary (GWP Hungary) actively contributed to national and international water governance processes, with a strong focus on youth engagement and regional cooperation in the Danube River Basin.
