GWPO Working in Virtual Environments (WiVE) team is coordinating a series of five training sessions in May and June, with the objective of enhancing our skills in facilitation in virtual environments. The sessions are optional and open to all global and regional GWP staff.
The speech below was given by GWPSA Chair, H.E. President Jakaya Kikwete, during the “Towards an International High-Level Panel on Water Investments for Africa” event on 2 November 2021, held at COP26’s first ever Water Pavilion.
46 participants, including 38 women from 8 associations, including Kolweogo, took part in training session on associative life, management and the proper keeping of accounting documents in Komki Ipala, in the greater Ouagadougou area.
Over the past year and a half, GWP has been proud to work alongside committed partners in the water and sanitation sector to ensure that the Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA) includes how climate-resilient water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services can be integrated in the Framework’s ‘water’ theme.
The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is holding an online series of climate dialogues from 23 November to 4 December, allowing Parties, observer States and other stakeholders to showcase progress and achievements on climate action in 2020.
A GWPSA delegation, led by Executive Secretary Mr. Alex Simalabwi, has met with H.E. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, President of Zanzibar, on 9 September 2021 in Zanzibar Town to discuss GWP work in the region.
Building on the success of the previous trainings, and growing demand for knowledge and skills relevant to the preparation and financing of transboundary water projects, GWP hosted, with partners, the Pan-Africa Capacity Building Workshop on International Water Law and Water Governance: for improved practices in transboundary water investments in Africa, in Entebbe, Uganda 19-23 September 2022.
