On 20 December 2021, the Malawi Ministry of Forestry and Natural Resources, in collaboration with the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Water Division, the Global Water Partnership-Southern Africa (GWPSA) and the Malawi Water Partnership convened the Malawi Water, Energy and Food (WEF) Nexus Dialogue to discuss the WEF Nexus concept in the Malawi context and highlight its potential in reducing poverty, enhancing climate change adaptation, and spurring social-economic development in the country.

The UNEP-UNDP National Adaptation Plan Global Support Programme (NAP-GSP) and the Global Water Partnership (GWP) organized a joint webinar on accessing the GCF Readiness Support for National Adaptation Plan (NAP) on Wednesday, 8 December 2021. In an event on the margins of the World Leaders Summit at COP26, former Tanzanian leader and Chair of Global Water Partnership Southern Africa and Africa Coordination, H.E. President Jakaya Kikwete called on the international community to support the establishment of an International High-Level Panel on Water Investments for Africa, which is urgently needed to accelerate investments in water security on the continent.
