The Youth Scientific Conference on Water was organized by the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy, Global Water Partnership Bulgaria, the Scientific and Technical Union on Water, and the Youth Union of the Bulgarian Water Association. More than 60 young scientists and students gathered at the event to hear about the researches and projects of their peers - young scientists and water professionals, and share their experiences.
Nineteen reports, including results of PhD thesis, national and international applied research projects were presented. The projects focused on water supply and sewerage systems, natural and wastewater purification, floods and anti-drought protection, ecology and environmental protection, water management, irrigation and drainage systems, hydraulics and hydrology.
Four Bulgarian participants from Summer School Towards 2030 Agenda attended the Youth Scientific Conference and shared their experience from the Summer School and Youth Voices Policy Choices dialogue. They also presented the youth-led project proposal, which was developed during the Summer School, supported by the Youth for Water and Climate platform, and later showcased at World Water Week in Stockholm in August 2018. The project focuses on a crossborder Dvoreshka River between Macedonia and Bulgaria, and includes a component about the natural wastewater treatement systems, developed by GWP CEE.
