There were concerns that Lake Arenal in Northern Costa Rica was threatened due to problems of deforestation and possible premature sedimentation, leading the government to take action, resulting in successful national and local benefits in terms of energy produced and area irrigated. The most important lesson learned is the importance of consulting all parties involved before initiating the project to achieve the best result. 

This paper is a personal contribution from Ivan Cheret in support of IWRM as a means towards coordinating the development and management of water, land, and related resources to provide water security for all. It belongs to the series of Technical Technical Background Papers, written or endorsed by the GWP Technical Committee, a group of internationally recognised professionals in integrated water resources management.

Instalación de una aerombomba para riego comunitario

Este proyecto piloto consistió en la construcción de un pozo y la instalación de una aerobomba (molino de viento) para el bombeo de agua para alimentar el sistema de riego de pequeñas parcelas agrícolas.

La presa de Sheque de EDEGEL (Empresa de generación eléctrica de LIMA S.A.- Grupo ENEL) está generando en la población ubicada aguas abajo ciertas molestias por la descarga de agua. 

Este documento hace un análisis del aporte económico del recurso hídrico en la producción agrícola e hidroeléctrica de El Salvador y Costa Rica en la actualidad y las proyecciones estimadas según los escenarios de cambio climático para ambos países en el 2100.
