"Millions of lives could be at risk if we don’t take the water crisis and global warming more seriously" was among the key closing messages of the 2019 World Water Week (25-30 August, Stockholm), organised by SIWI. Many of the Week’s 250+ sessions showcased water-related solutions to global challenges such as climate change and food scarcity. More than 4000 participants from 138 countries called upon governments, institutions and stakeholders including the private sector, to improve water management and practically implement available solutions to critical water challenges.

A delegation from the Ministry of Water and Sanitation (MH/A) of Niger went on a study tour to Burkina Faso from 19 to 23 December 2022. In order to carry out an in-depth consultation with the main stakeholders of Benin on the indicators of the water investment monitoring systems (AIP SCORECARD and WASSMO), for the purpose of validating the data collected under the 2021-2022 review, the Water, Climate, Development and Gender Equality Programme (WACDEP G) implemented by the Benin Country Water Partnership (CWP BENIN) in collaboration with the Benin Water Directorate, organised the workshop for the validation of Benin's data in the African Water Investment Scorecard (AIP Scorecard) and the setting up of the national data collection platform for the WASSMO system indicators, at the SOSSA Hotel in Cotonou (Benin).
The Chamber of Agriculture (RECA) in Niamey, Niger hosted from 26 to 28 December 2022 a training workshop for stakeholders on ecosystem management for climate change adaptation in the Mekrou sub-basin in Niger. This training session aims to strengthen the capacities of participants on the management of ecosystems in the Mekrou sub-basin in Niger.
The Global Water Partnership (GWP) is a global action network with over 3,000 Partner organisations in 183 countries. The network has 65 accredited Country Water Partnerships and 13 Regional Water Partnerships.
In 2022, the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR), as part of the African Groundwater Program (APAGroP) of the African Ministers' Council on Water (AMCOW), supported the African Groundwater Network (AGW-Net), Ask for Water GmbH, and Cap-Net UNDP, in partnership with the Senegalese Country Water Partnership (PNES), to develop and deliver two online courses on groundwater.

The Union for the Mediterranean and SIDA funded ‘MENA Water Matchmaker II' project which is implemented by GWP-Med, is applying innovative nature-based Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems Nexus solutions in 6 farms in Jordan and Palestine in order to improve water management and enhance climate resilience in some of the most water scarce areas in the world.
