On World Water Day 22 March 2017 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana hosted a roundtable entitled "The importance of drinking water sources for international peace and security."

GWP Central America is part of the organising committee for the sub-regional process leading up to the 8th World Water Forum, to be held in Brasilia, March 2018. In this capacity, GWP Central America, together with GWP Caribbean, held an online consultation to identify cross-cutting themes and topics that will be discussed at the Forum next year. The results were presented at the 2nd Stakeholders Consultation Meeting in Brasilia, on April 26-27.

GWP South Asia, GWP and GWP Nepal in cooperation with the Geneva Water Hub and UNESCO-IHE are organising a regional workshop on Transboundary Water Cooperation in the context of the SDGs in South Asia and beyond in Pokhara, Nepal on 23 and 24 May 2017. Thereafter, an Inter-Regional Coordination Meeting will be held on the 25 May with the representation of the four Asian Regional Water Partnerships – Central Asia, China, South Asia and South-East Asia.

On the occasion of World Water Day, GWP China Hunan, with a team of volunteers from partner organizations, met elementary students in Yijiawan Center School of Shaoshan County, in Hunan Province. It's a routine of GWP China Hunan to organize "World Water Day" thematic campaign annually. The theme of 2017 is water saving and ecological development.

This activity was commissioned to mitigate wasteful water behavior in the showers and washbasins

The main objective of the "Water for Growth and Poverty Reduction in the Mekrou Sub-Basin in Niger - Mekrou Project Phase 2 - NIGER" is to "support green economic growth and poverty reduction in the portions of the Nigerien territory located in the Mekrou River Basin and its area of influence through integrated and concerted water management in developing areas".

Southern African Development Community (SADC) member states must create enabling institutional environment to eliminate the challenges that hinder the achievement of gender equality and equity for SADC protocol on gender and development to be beneficial to the region.

Asia and the Pacific has made impressive progress towards achieving several sustainable development goals including poverty alleviation, education and economic growth. At the same time, the region needs to accelerate concerted efforts across all sectors to achieve the SDGs by 2030. In the face of transboundary challenges such as climate change and natural disasters, energy security and connectivity, ecosystem degradation on land and in our oceans, and promoting sustainable equitable trade, regional cooperation can support and complement the effectiveness of national mechanisms and be a link between global goals and country level commitments.

The AMCOW Secretariat in collaboration with the Ministry of Water and Irrigation (Tanzania) will be holding the 6th Africa Water Week (AWW) and 10th General Assembly at Mwalimu Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from 18^th-22 July, 2016 under the theme ‘Achieving the SDGs on Water Security and Sanitation’.   The Tanzania Water Partnership has been co-opted by the Ministry of Water and Irrigation as one of the lead institutions constituting the National Organizing Committee (NOC) for the 6th Africa Water Week. Several members of TWP are part of the NOC.
