On March 2, 2017, as our loyal regional partner, the World Resources Institute (WRI) will sign the Memorandum of Understanding with GWP China. The signing ceremony will convene top leaders of GWP China and WRI at global level in Beijing.
The Board of Directors of Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA) is pleased to announce that Mr. Alex Simalabwi has been named the new Executive Secretary, Head of Africa Coordination Unit and GWP’s Global Lead on Climate Resilience. His appointment was effective from 1st January 2017. Mr. Alex Simalabwi succeeds Ms. Ruth Beukman who had served GWPSA since 2003.
GWPSA has also been tasked by the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Water Division with the organisation of the SADC Multi-stakeholder Water Dialogues for the past five years. The dalogues have been held under the general tag of "Watering development in SADC"
Water security is under threat in urban areas. The very nature of urbanization contributes to water stress: rapid population growth, inadequate planning, pollution, poverty, and competing demands on the resource. This briefing note lays out the principles of integrated urban water management as a means to meet that threat. Briefing notes are two-page summaries on selected topics.
